Tyreke Evans out for game vs. Spurs

For the second straight game against a Southwest Division opponent, the New Orleans Pelicans will have just 11 healthy players available. Fourth-year Pelicans coach Monty Williams said Tyreke Evans (left ankle) will not play vs. San Antonio tonight. Evans again joins Jrue Holiday (tibia stress fracture) and Ryan Anderson (herniated disc) as key Pelicans who’ll have to watch from the sideline. It’s uncertain how long Evans will be out this time, with the same injury that hampered him in preseason.

“We all have to (compensate),” Williams said, before listing several players who are moving into larger roles. “Darius (Miller) got an opportunity to knock down some shots and played solid defense (at Dallas). Brian Roberts is going to have (contribute more), Austin (Rivers) playing in a backup role, Alexis (Ajinca). We have a number of guys filling in for guys we may not have for a while. It’s part of the game. Obviously we need all of our guys, but we don’t (have them).”
